Las Vegas always seems to be a bargain destination – especially if you’re already in the United States – and at this time of year it’s not only cheap it’s also a welcome warm respite from the cold weather much of the country is dealing with. And even though we’re only out a few days before Christmas right now, that doesn’t mean it’s too late to book a trip to Vegas to celebrate New Year’s in style.
Many of the cheapest fares I’m seeing for Las Vegas right now may very well be for right before or right after New Year’s, since it’s a popular destination for New Year’s parties, but airfare to Vegas is usually fairly low even during peak times. Plus, even if you’re paying a little more on your flight than you’d like, you can usually make up for it with a steal of a deal on a room.
It’s really nice of the organizers of the 2010 NBA All-Star Weekend to hold it in Dallas, a city that’s warm in February when the event takes place. I’m sure the temperature outside isn’t the main thing the organizers consider when they’re planning the weekend, but it’s still quite considerate of them. Because what do you need more than anything else if you live in a cold place? A trip to a warm place in February.
Christmas is only two weeks away. If you haven’t managed to plan a vacation yet, worry not for there are still some excellent deals available out there. Surprised? Don’t be! The economic crisis still forces the hoteliers to keep the prices down in order to keep the hotels occupied.

One of the things you’ll read over and over again when you’re looking for the best ways to find travel bargains is that being flexible is key. For the most part, that means being willing (and able) to move your trip by a day or two in either direction from your chosen travel date, or taking an early flight instead of one that lets you sleep in. But even beyond that, being flexible with the airports you fly in and out of can help you expand your ability to find travel deals, too.
