Las Vegas Can Be a Great Bargain for New Year’s

vegasstripLas Vegas always seems to be a bargain destination – especially if you’re already in the United States – and at this time of year it’s not only cheap it’s also a welcome warm respite from the cold weather much of the country is dealing with. And even though we’re only out a few days before Christmas right now, that doesn’t mean it’s too late to book a trip to Vegas to celebrate New Year’s in style.

Many of the cheapest fares I’m seeing for Las Vegas right now may very well be for right before or right after New Year’s, since it’s a popular destination for New Year’s parties, but airfare to Vegas is usually fairly low even during peak times. Plus, even if you’re paying a little more on your flight than you’d like, you can usually make up for it with a steal of a deal on a room.

Dallas Travel Tips for NBA All-Star Weekend

nba3It’s really nice of the organizers of the 2010 NBA All-Star Weekend to hold it in Dallas, a city that’s warm in February when the event takes place. I’m sure the temperature outside isn’t the main thing the organizers consider when they’re planning the weekend, but it’s still quite considerate of them. Because what do you need more than anything else if you live in a cold place? A trip to a warm place in February.

In other words, even if you’re not a huge fan of basketball this is a great excuse to pack your bags for warmer climes just when you need it. And it’s an even better excuse to plan a trip around the weekend sporting activities – so you can soak up as much of that much-needed sun as possible.

Ultimately, however, whether you’re just spending the weekend in Dallas or you decide to turn it into a longer trip, you’re going to need a little bit of travel advice. This article isn’t going to give you everything you need for your trip to Dallas, but it’ll get you started. Here are a few Dallas travel tips for the NBA All-Star Weekend.

Thomson Cheap Ski Holidays

The economic crisis still forces the hoteliers to keep the prices down in order to keep the hotels occupied. Cheap Ski Holidays

Miami Travel Tips for the Super Bowl

miamiThe 2010 Super Bowl – Super Bowl XLIV (or Super Bowl 44, for those of you who can’t read Latin numbers) – will be in Miami on February 7, 2010. Miami has hosted the event nine times in the past, and it’s not hard to understand why. If your big event were held each year in one of the notoriously dreariest months, wouldn’t you want to make sure it happened in a sunny climate?

Yeah, me too.

So, even if you’re not the world’s biggest football fan, or your favorite team isn’t even in the playoffs, there are still some decent reasons for making the trip to Miami for the Super Bowl. If, for instance, your significant other loves the game, why not tag along and get a Florida holiday out of it?

No matter what the reasoning behind it, if you’re going to Miami for the Super Bowl you’ll need some travel advice. Which is what we’re here to deliver.

Alternate Airports to Some Big US Hubs

airportlineOne of the things you’ll read over and over again when you’re looking for the best ways to find travel bargains is that being flexible is key. For the most part, that means being willing (and able) to move your trip by a day or two in either direction from your chosen travel date, or taking an early flight instead of one that lets you sleep in. But even beyond that, being flexible with the airports you fly in and out of can help you expand your ability to find travel deals, too.

Keep in mind that the big hub airport in your area may be the one that most often has the best deals, simply because it’s got the most traffic coming in and going out and therefore airlines are more likely to have empty seats they want to sell cheap. But sometimes the smaller secondary or even tertiary airports in a region will have deals the big hubs won’t – if a discount carrier only flies to the smaller airport and not the bigger one, or if the smaller airport charges the airlines lower fees to operate there, for instance. So even if you end up flying in and out of the bigger hubs most of the time, it never hurts to check the alternate airports nearby.

Thanksgiving Travel Airport Survival Tips

busyairportLet’s just say you didn’t read up on the best days to travel at Thanksgiving in time for this year’s pilgrimage back to the homestead and you’re stuck at the airport on a day when it seems like all of humanity is sharing the terminal with you. Or, even worse, you did plan ahead but the airport’s a zoo anyway and people are getting bumped from flights right and left.

Rather than giving into the bedlam, rushing the check-in counter, and threatening bodily harm to everyone around you, you can stay a bit more relaxed in these situations if you’re armed with the necessary tools to help you survive the chaos that is Thanksgiving holiday travel at the airport.

Of course, if you’re one of those people who’s hoping to be bumped so you’ve got an excuse for not seeing your in-laws over Thanksgiving (or just to get a free flight or whatever the airline’s handing out as a reward to people who give up their seats), then feel free to ignore all of these tips. Just don’t say we didn’t warn you.
