Whether you plan to head to a ski resort or to a warmer destination, the first thing to consider is always the airfare. And thankfully, the airlines are still trying to convince both leisure and business travelers that flying is fast and affordable. Air France special offers
What exactly does the offer contain? Flights within France, flights to London City, flights to European cities (direct or via Paris) and excellent fares to destinations world wide. Some promotions are valid for a limited time though.
Planning to book a Caribbean vacation package ? Then skip the airfare and fly with Air France. Their offer – valid until January 6, 2010 – comprises flights to Santo Domingo (€806 roundtrip), Punta Cana (€917 roundtrip) and St. Maarten (€982 roundtrip).
Cheap vacations in Europe
It might be winter in Greece but the city is a lovely destination to visit at any time of the year. Heading to Athens will reveal not only a not crowded capital but also a lovely place to discover off season. With some luck, you might even get some snow.
Airfare to Athens is not expensive at this time of the year, but the flights are not as many as during summer. Air France’s prices start at €330 for a round trip flight (Paris – Athens – Paris). Once you’ve got the flight figured out, make sure to book a hotel in Athens . Prices start at €35 per night in a 2-star hotel located in the commercial center of Athens, close to Omonia Square.
If you prefer to ski, don’t leave the country; head to Thessaloniki instead and then to one of the ski regions close to the city. A round trip flight to Thessaloniki starts at €77 (in mid-January). Elatochori ski area is located close to the city and offers several places to stay. Unfortunately you cannot find the prices online and you need to email them for the offers. But Greece is a cheap place to ski mostly because the foreigners haven’t yet discovered the beauty of this area (or the fact that it’s possible to ski in Greece).
A little further to the North, you’ll find other two cheap countries for skiing: Bulgaria and Romania. Bansko ski resort is the most popular in Bulgaria, but also one of the cheapest ski resorts in Europe . You can stay in a studio for prices starting at €44 per night (low season: Jan 10 – Apr 10, 2010).
