Here’s a deal from Priceline I didn’t expect

Do you remember that whole “Name Your Own Price” thing that Priceline started out with? Yeah, they have kind of deemphasized that in the last few years, but it’s still around and here’s an incredible offer: Name Your Own Price Hotel - See Winning Bids in Top Cities!
I think the reason Priceline has mostly moved away from that thing is that for most people you always felt like you might be getting ripped off. You’d enter a low bid and it would be rejected and they’d suggest a much higher bid, but you still didn’t know if that was at the worst hotel in that area or what.
Now they are actually telling you some of the winning bids, so you at least know about which range to enter. The old commercials would lead you to believe you could get a cross-country flight for like $60 if you were bold enough to enter that price and lucky enough to have it accepted, but usually you’d just get rejected.
I’m going to start trying this Priceline thing again on my next trip, which is coming up pretty soon although I don’t know where I’m going yet. Maybe I’ll just look for the cheapest hotel room and go there. There must be something to see in Butte, Montana, right? It may not have a great idea, but at least it would be way cheaper than the hotels in Europe.
