We love Minnesota. Especially in the summertime, which is the three weeks of the year that it isn’t snowing.

No, that isn’t true. It’s probably four weeks.

Anyway, the thing that always let us kids snow that snow was on the way was the official end of summer the weekend before school started - the Minnesota State Fair.

We would go, wander the fair, and eat to our heart’s content, checking out the various activities and straining to hear what big-name band was playing in the grandstand.
