Visit Washington, DC during Cheery Blossom Season

dc-cherry.jpgThe first year I lived in Washington, DC we had a ton of snow during the winter. The gloomy days were endless and the cold had even the heartiest of souls complaining. The one thing that everyone told me was that if you can survive the winter in DC (normally not that bad) there is a payoff in the form of spring. The spring months would bring pleasant temperatures without the humidity of the summer, they said, and the beautiful sights of cherry blossoms everywhere.

They were right. Spring in Washington is about as pleasant as you will find anywhere else in the world. The weather is great, the vibe is festive and the cherry blossoms are gorgeous…as long as you aren’t allergic to them. It turns out I am allergic to cherry blossoms. Severely. I no longer live in DC.

If your eyes don’t welt up and your lungs can handle the pollen, you really must visit Washington during cherry blossom season. It is nothing short of beautiful. You can even stay there for reduced hotel rates, which could come in handy if you or your traveling partners discover they are allergic too and need to spend every waking second indoors looking outside at those pretty trees that they’d like nothing more than to cut down.
