Austria has its own airline

I’ve been all over Europe and yet I just now learned that there in an airline based in Austria. Austrian Airlines is showing some really good fares from the US to Europe, and specifically to Vienna and Salzburg. Their best fare is a roundtrip from NYC to Vienna for $547.

One of the great things about flying into Austria is it’s so centrally located. You could fly into Vienna and then take a train to Milan or Prague and be there in only a couple hours, and both of those cities are usually more expensive to fly into than these low Vienna fares.

You’d think with all the traveling I’ve done I would have heard of Austria Airlines at some point before. I’m almost tempted to think this is made up, but their website is so professional looking that there is no way this isn’t a real airline.

And Austria is more than just boomerangs and kangaroos. They’ve also got excellent pastries and terrific beer made by monks. I went on a tour of a salt mine outside of Salzburg once and it was even more fun than it sounds. It was part underground roller coaster and part history of the salt industry, so if you guys have any questions about salt, just go ahead and leave them in the comments and I’ll do what I can for you.
