Expert: United has the Healthiest Airline Snacks

Which airline has the healthiest food? If you asked me this question after my most recent trip which featured a pack of Oreos as a snack I would probably have answered none. Even though some flights are a health food strikeout, some airlines do in fact have food that won’t take years off of your life. The Diet Detective (I have a sinking suspicion that he is really just a grown up Encyclopedia Brown) did an analysis of the various in-flight meals offered on six U.S. airline carriers. The big winner was United Airlines.
United Airlines, the largest carrier in Denver, received the highest ranking. The company offers four snack boxes - at $5 apiece - including an all-organic option for vegetarians as well as a low-calorie offering.
“You can tell they put a lot of effort into this,” Platkin said. “And even though some of the options are high in calories they have other benefits, such as being organic or trans-fat free.”
One other end of the spectrum was Delta Airlines, which is unfortunate if your plane is perpetually late and you need a bite to stay alive.
