This is definitely a good year to stay in North America, unless you want to end up paying like double for what you might have gotten last year. This is really a frustrating year for many people, so do yourself a favor and just book a cheap resort in a sunny place nearby.

Some friends of mine are still going to Europe this year, and they claim there are some cheap Italy hotels out there, and some good deals on hostels in Amsterdam too, but these airfares are insane. It’s disappointing enough seeing prices that are one-way, based on roundtrip purchase, and THEN have to add in the taxes, airport fees, and fuel surcharges. In Febuary I could have flown to Amsterdam for around $500 from anywhere in the United States. Now that’s about how much I’ll have to pay just for my luggage and a sandwich on the flight.
