With the symbolic end of summer just around the corner, you may be suddenly filled with an a sense of sadness about all the great things you wanted to do this summer and never got around to actually doing. If you aren’t quite ready to have summer end (like me), then you can prolong those warm days, sunny skies and beach time well into fall by booking a trip to often sunny San Diego. Especially with so many airlines offering up great end-of-summer fare sales and hotels offering deeply discounted rooms, now is the time to take advantage of all the great travel deals and head for somewhere beachy. While many people may think of San Diego as an ideal summer vacation spot, according to the Seattle Times, fall is actually the ideal time to visit the Southern Californian city. My personal favorite area of the city to stay in when I visit San Diego is Mission Bay of Pacific Beach. With easy access to the ocean beaches, great boardwalks along both the beach and the bay to stroll along or ride your bike and plenty of great restaurants and bars, it is an ideal place to hang out when visiting the city. Plus, while downtown hotels in San Diego tend to be on the pricey side, you can get great deals at many of the Mission Bay hotels. The Best Western at Mission Bay is now offering a deal for 3-nights for the price of two.

If you are looking for more San Diego hotel deals, you can also stay downtown at the Sofia Boutique hotel for just $118/night when you book it on the Visitor Bureau’s web site for weekend stays in October. For those who have already gotten a great deal on a cheap ticket, being able to save on your hotel room could mean a vacation package that costs you a whole lot less than you imagined.
