It’s a great time to purchase tickets to the big city hubs

When you live in a big city you often have to pay a premium. Your rent is higher than it would be if you lived in the boonies, the price of milk is about the same as a bottle of scotch somewhere else and a night out on the town requires a couple of different credit cards so you don’t max out your credit. Big city life is expensive but it also has its benefits. One of the benefits is that you can often get the best deals on airline tickets.
If you live in a big hub city where thousands of flights come in and out each day, you have more flying options and therefore more competition for your business. I failed Econ 101 but I still know that more competition means lower prices and that means that you get to save more for you actual travels.
For those of you living in big hub cities like Dallas, New York and Chicago, the savings are especially large this time of year. With discount airlines like ATA lowering their prices, the big competitors will either have to do the same or they will risk losing your business. Think about that the next time you are biting into a $23 hamburger and wondering how you will make rent.
