Latin America is cheaper than English America

Between now and, say, March or April, is the best time to visit our neighbors to the south. Central America is experiencing their dry season and the weather is nearly perfect every day. And the southern part of South America is having the second half of their gorgeous summer, so crowds are starting to dwindle even though the weather is still great.

Taca pretty much dominates those markets, but they do it by providing great service and good prices. It helps if you know Spanish, but seriously, Buenos Aires is a gorgeous and friendly city, and things are super cheap for North Americans once you get there.

Or you might try Rio de Janiero, which can be a bit dangerous, so it’s good to go in pairs and leave your valuables at home. I accidentally spent Carnival in Rio in 2005 and I had the time of my life, even though I was there totally by mistake. I’ll tell the rest of that story another time, so stay tuned.
