New York hotel deals are surprisingly easy to find

If you’ve never visited New York City you probably are still aware that hotels there are usually insanely expensive, but this summer that’s not really the case. Yes, prices of hotel rooms can seem outrageous in the Big Apple, but that’s only part of the equation. You’d normally show up to claim your $200 room and even though that would get you a suite in almost any other city in the country, in NYC you get a room that is slightly larger than the bed itself.
But the economy being what it is, this summer is a really good time to travel. Getting a flight to New York City is cheaper than in any summer in recent memory, and plenty of other bargains await for you when you arrive.
Starting near the bottom, Expedia is advertising rooms at the Days Inn on the Upper West Side of Manhattan starting at $93. It’s a good (not great) location, and it’s actually a better place to stay than the middle of Times Square, where so many other hotels are located.
They’ve also got rooms at the Thirty Thirty, which is right near Macy’s, starting at $139 per night. If this was Tampa, then $139 might sound like a lot, but seriously these prices haven’t been available during summer for years.
Travelzoo has a 4-diamond (AAA) hotel starting at $199 per night. It’s the Westin Times Square, so you know it’s nice and in the center of everything. This room would probably be at least $300 most years. Cheap hotels in New York City are easy to find now, and if you’ve been thinking about visiting you probably shouldn’t wait too long. Hostels in New York are also great bargains, although very few of them are running specials so they would be good if you can’t find one of these excellent deals.
Other New York hotel deals to consider:
Stay at the Wyndam Garden Hotel starting at $149
Stay at the Wellington Hotel in Midtown starting at $135 per night
Stay at the Best Western Bowery Hanbee Hotel starting at $119
