Save big on last-minute vacations

The big airline booking sites tend to all have around the same prices on individual airline tickets, but some of them have really interesting specials like this from Expedia: Last minute travel deals and vacation packages at Expedia.com!
You’ll see a list of popular last-minute vacation deals they have, but with just one more click you can drag the slider down to your own city and then see the specific vacation deals you can get. They tend to leave in just a few weeks, which isn’t exactly last minute, but still the value is there.
When I’m bored at work (at previous jobs, natch) I always really liked to look at sites like this because I could daydream about going to Hawaii in just a couple weeks, or to Vegas next weekend. Even if you don’t buy any of the trips it can be fun to see what they’ve got.
What you tend to get with these are flights that aren’t selling well combined with hotels that have lots of extra rooms. This usually means the flight won’t be completely packed and neither will the hotel. That appeals to me because I like to stretch out across a whole row of empty airline seats and I also like to pry open adjacent hotel doors to make myself kind of a suite. When the next room turns out to be occupied the guests there usually find it funny that I broke in, but not always, so it’s worth checking.
