Sometimes, last minute is still not soon enough

couple there beachIn this column I find a lot of great last-minute deals that I post here, and interestingly enough a site called lastminute.com is going one better with what they call “last-second” deals: Save up to 70% on last second travel deals!

In the travel business, last minute is really a code for 2 or 3 weeks from now, and of course last second doesn’t literally mean that you should book these deals from your iPhone on the way to the airport. These are for this upcoming weekend, or there abouts, so you’ll have a couple of days to sort out your affairs and notify your friends, if you have any, that is.

Anyone can find their own flights to California, or even their own cheap flights to Hawaii, but when you get there you’ll have to pay top dollar for a hotel. Have you ever walked up to a beach hotel in summer and asked what their rack rate is? I have and it’s not pretty. In many cases you can get these hotels and flights for the same price you might expect to pay for either one, so the way I see it, you can’t afford to not take advantage of one of these. Either that, or you are just showing off your wealth by paying full price for everything.
