Speaking of last-minute deals

I’ve actually stayed in several of the hotels Expedia is now showing on their last-minute section, and I can tell you that many of these are really great deals: Last-Minute Hotel Deals at Expedia.com

They are showing some really low prices on hotels if you are ready to travel in the next two weeks or so. Some of the cities featured are probably good deals because it’s off-season there, but Miami and Orlando are showing some really promising room rates as well.

I think this might be because by the time we get to February most people have locked in their winter break if they are going to do one at all, and spring and summer trips are still in the future. So many of these big hotels have loads of empty rooms, and their loss is our gain. We might be able to take an extra run through the line at the breakfast buffet as well. Waste not want not, we always say, which might help explain why we’ve filled our day pack with an entire box of those individually wrapped Danish. We’ll eat some over the course of the day and the rest we’ll hand out as tips to anyone who holds a door open for us and so forth. Someone’s got to eat them afterall.
