Start spreading the news

Empire StateTravelocity has a heckuva sale on now offering a flight to New York City and 3 nights hotel starting at $581. If you’ve checked out hotel prices on their own there you’d know that it’s hard to find anything for under $200 a night regardless, so having a flight thrown in is a pretty sweet deal even if it’s based on double occupancy.

The strike by the Broadway stage hands has wreaked havoc on travel plans of some theater buffs, but there is plenty more to do in New York City than watch some corny play based on an old sitcom or TV commercial or whatever they are basing them on now.

Of course the Christmas season is a great, if crowded, time to visit Manhattan, but January and February aren’t bad either. Let’s face it, New York City is an indoor destination and the city quickly recovers from any snowfall, so the lower prices and smaller crowds during winter can make for a really nice visit.

My advice is to find a hotel that is not in Times Square, but if it’s your first visit that’s not a bad place to base yourself for a short trip.
