Students and teachers should all know about STA Travel

By wade | Permalink | August 15th, 2008

kidsEvery month or so I take a one-day break from pointing out hot deals to mention what might be the best deal of all. I’m not a student anymore, but I’ve used STA Travel quite a bit and I can personally vouch for the fact that you can’t find plane tickets cheaper than this anywhere: Lowest prices on flights guaranteed!

Here’s the deal. You pay $22 for a one-year membership, and that’s the price if you are a student or a teacher, and you can save probably around 20% or so on most flights. If you are planning one flight for a weekend trip, it’s probably not worth it, although you could save more than the $22 just on the one flight. But if you are going traveling and/or flying a few different places, you’ll definitely save a ton by joining. They have good service as well so don’t hesitate to give it a try.

And I’m not supposed to mention this, but you can actually get a “teacher” card at some places even if you aren’t “currently” a teacher, if you know what I mean. Please don’t tell them who told you this, but I’ve done it myself, or wait, no, a friend of mine has done it. I haven’t done it, okay?

you can’t be serious. STA prices are just as high if not higher than other sites. I’ve never found a good deal. I’ve had other problems with them as well, for example, once while I was applying for a visa, they even sold me travel insurance which was not valid - and then fought me on refunding it! honestly I really think there are better deals out there.
