The world’s best hotels and resorts are worth a look

swweet hotelPeople seem to love those “list articles” where the writer slaps together the 8 best this or the 7 most expensive that, and I can see the appeal even if most of them are pulled out of thin air. Expedia, however, has this really cool list of their top 1% hotels and resorts, as rated by previous guests: Expedia Insiders’ Select: The ultimate list of the world’s best hotels and resorts only at Expedia.com!

It’s interesting to see which of the world’s hotels rank at the top of the list because they are all mixed together. The top 3 hotels in the world, according to this, are in Chicago, Cancun, and Seattle, and farther down the list you’ll find hotels in Asia, the Caribbean, and even Canada.

I don’t see any hotels in Italy on the list, although I’m sure there are some farther down than I’ve looked. There are some wonderful places there, particularly in the Lake Como area, but I usually stay at George Clooney’s place when I’m there so I don’t know any of the names. My greatest fear is that George or some of his henchmen will turn up while I’m staying there. I always leave things just as I found them, but I do worry what they’d think if they ever found out.
