Travel Price Index Increase

When planning your summer holiday, did you look at prices and say, “I swear this is more expensive than last year!”

Don’t worry, you’re not remembering incorrectly. Prices have been on the rise.

Over the course of one year, fro June 2005 to June 2006, travel prices increased by 7.6%. It was .6% higher than the previous month of May, 2006.

Airfares have risen nearly 6% - 3.1% in the last month - and a hotel will set you back 4.5% more.

Gas is the biggest burden, with an increase of almost 34%.
