You’re going to be glad you waited to the last minute to book your room

This isn’t something you want to try when booking flights, but waiting until just a week or two before you leave is sometimes the best way to get cheap hotel rooms: >Last-Minute Hotel Deals at Expedia.com

It seems that the weak economy is causing some mild panic at certain hotels because they are slashing their prices to try to fill up some empty rooms. The fine people at Expedia have collected up their best deals for the next couple weeks, and it looks like a buyer’s market.

All the top US cities are showing some pretty remarkable deals for this time of the year, but you have to work fast since these do sell out. In New York City they are showing the best deal to be $159 at a place called the Hotel Alexander. For the Big Apple that is a great price this time of the year, and it will save you from having to stay at one of the New York hostels just to make the trip affordable enough.

They are showing hotels in every other city starting below half the price they are showing for New York City, including one at San Francisco Airport for $51 per night. Even for a hotel airport, that’s an amazing deal. It makes me wish I wasn’t completely banned from visiting California based on that misunderstanding from before. Don’t ask.
