United Vacations has plenty of things on sale
One of the things I like about United Vacations is that they always have competitive prices, but they also put a list of their most special deals right on the front page of their site:
>United Vacations
We provide complete travel packages including air, hotel, rental car and attraction tickets.
For example, right now they are offering 20% off on all Las Vegas hotels, and I have a feeling some of them might be even cheaper than that. This situation isn’t widely talked about, but being in the travel industry I can reveal that Las Vegas is really taking it on the chin this summer, and they are wheeling and dealing on their rooms like they haven’t done in a decade or more. They’ve built over 100,000 hotel rooms, and with gas prices and airfares being high lately, more people have found it easier to skip the Vegas trip. These deals won’t go on forever though.
Expedia has some really cheap packages at the moment
It could be that this is because we are entering that fringe travel season where everyone has booked their summer trip, and no one is thinking about a fall or winter trip yet, but prices are quite good on these packages right now: Top Vacation Package Deals at Expedia.com
They are currently advertising Florida hotels starting at $45 per night, and packages including a flight and 3 hotel nights starting at $307. That’s pretty amazing compared to anything we’ve seen in the last couple months. I know there are always cheaper hotels in Florida that are pretty nice, but the airfare part has been even more than that alone from just about anywhere past Atlanta.
Southwest Airlines has the best deals this year for sure
We’ve talked about it a bit before, but just to remind you, Southwest Airlines had a brilliant program in place whereby they bought their fuel for the whole year quite a while ago, all at a very reasonable price. So they aren’t charging for extras or adding fuel surcharges like the others. Now check out their package deals:
> Check out Southwest Airlines Vacations’ destinations. Find affordable air/hotel packages to exciting destinations from coast to coast.
Remember what we just discussed above, now factor in that Southwest Vacations is a huge department that is able to book hotels at great rates and combine them with their cheap flights. Who wins in this scenario? Well, Southwest does, but so do the consumers who take advantage of these deals instead of ones from competing companies.
Great news for Europe-bound travelers
This summer has been brutal for Europe travel from the United States, but suddenly everything is going our way again: Fly to Europe at up to 50% discount with Lessno
With the price of oil coming down, these extra surcharges are getting dropped. And the US dollar is making a big move against the euro and the pound, so everything is about 10% cheaper than just a couple weeks ago. But better still it’s discount season so that summer is ending, so these flight providers can really start competing with fares that you couldn’t dream of getting a month or two ago.
Save big on last-minute vacations
The big airline booking sites tend to all have around the same prices on individual airline tickets, but some of them have really interesting specials like this from Expedia: Last minute travel deals and vacation packages at Expedia.com!
You’ll see a list of popular last-minute vacation deals they have, but with just one more click you can drag the slider down to your own city and then see the specific vacation deals you can get. They tend to leave in just a few weeks, which isn’t exactly last minute, but still the value is there.
Here are some really good airfares to Europe
If you’ve never heard of Condor Airlines, you are not alone, but they are legit so check this out:
>Lowfare flights starting from 129 US$ one way at www.condor.com!
Condor Airlines is Germany’s largest holiday airlines and they are over 50 years old. They mostly fly within Europe, but they do start in the US with some really good fares, and those are worth checking out.
Pack your bags and prepare to save up to 70% off!
I dig up “last-minute” deals fairly often, and those are usually some of the best prices you can ever get for those trips. Well, an outfit called Site 59 is taking it one step further with last-second deals!: Drop Everything! Last second deals from $199
These last-second deals seem to only be within the United States, but based on how the dollar is doing these days that’s probably for the best anyway. Do you want to go to France where a bottle of water costs more than your whole dinner in this country? Me either.
I’ve got a good feeling about this sweepstakes thing
It’s no secret that I’m something of a fan of Southwest Vacations because they often have amazing prices. Now they are offering us a sweepstakes on top of that! Enter to win a Southwest Airlines Vacations’ package for two to Reno-Tahoe, and pick the adventure of your choice. Enter by 4/15
I don’t think I’m eligible for this thing, but you sure as heck are. When you click on the thing to get the contest entry form you can also check out the prices I was talking about. If I ran Southwest Airlines they wouldn’t have the flight attendants try to be goofy and “fun” all the time, but I’d keep the rock-bottom prices.
Don’t settle for bottom or middle travel deals
Regular readers of this column know that I try my best to sort through all the mediocre stuff to bring you just the best deals I can find. Today, Expedia has done the work for me:
>Top Travel Deals at Expedia.com
That’s right, today Expedia is sharing its top travel deals with us all on the same page. But don’t think I’m going to give you some of my modest salary, Expedia!
Air France has some really impressive deals to Europe at the moment
Whatever you may think about the country France, if you’ve flown internationally on their national airline you are definitely a fan of it. Right now they have some really sweet offers as well: Unbelievably low fares on Air France right here.
You can definitely fly to France on some of these specials, but you might not realize that Air France will take you pretty much anywhere in Europe from North America. Of course you usually have a short layover in Paris, but there are worse things than spending an hour or two at Charles de Gaulle Airport
