The Baltimore Winter Waterfront Pass
Remember when Baltimore, Maryland was just about the only city in the United States trying to make its downtown area a desirable place to visit? I sure do. My parents dragged me there all the time and made sure to tell me all about the city’s urban planning revival over and over and over again.
I have a greater appreciation for this nowadays as cities across the United States follow Baltimore’s lead through downtown revitalization projects. Even after all these years, Baltimore is still a cool place to visit, especially for families looking for a quick day trip or a weekend getaway.
The Baltimore Winter Waterfront Pass provides admission to four of the city’s most popular attractions, all perfect for a winter weekend of exploration, including access to the National Aquarium in Baltimore; Maryland Science Center; Port Discovery, the Children’s Museum in Baltimore and Top of the World Observation Deck. The Baltimore Winter Waterfront Pass is $39 for adults (25 percent savings off retail) and $29 for children (21 percent savings off retail) and is valid for 30 days from first use or until March 31, 2007.
Get yourself to the city and see what it is all about. If nothing else you will be able to munch on some wonderful Maryland crab cakes and to bore your own kids with talk of urban planning.

Why Go: Baltimore is a city of interesting contrasts and happy combinations. Located in a border state, it combines northern energy and innovation with southern friendliness and charm.
Founded by the Catholic Lord Baltimore, Maryland was one of the first colonies to permit freedom of religion, and residents are proud of this heritage. Baltimore played a major role in the American Revolution, becoming the home of Congress when Philadelphia was besieged in 1776. During the Civil War, Maryland remained in the union, but loyalties were sufficiently divided that Union officials arrested many civilians as southern sympathizers. The Baltimore Civil War Museum is an excellent source of information on this period.
The city’s major attraction is the Inner Harbor, one of the first and most highly praised waterfront redevelopments. You can easily spend a whole day here. The USS Constellation, the U.S. Navy’s last all-sail warship, is docked at Harborplace. Near Harborplace is Federal Hill Park, with the finest view in Baltimore and the unusual American Visionary Art Museum, presenting the work of self-taught artists. Not far is the historic Fell’s Point neighborhood, with old buildings and waterfront promenade.
