A Walk though Borneo’s Sabah Highlands

borneo-sabah-highlands.jpgOne of the first travel books I ever read cover to cover in a single day was Eric Hansen’s Stranger in the Forest: A Walk Across Borneo. It details the seven months he took walking across Borneo on foot. Full of intrigue, adventure, and anthropology, it is a must read for anyone who enjoys a great travel tale.

It also should be on your reading list if you are contemplating a trip to Borneo. Unfortunately many of the perils that Hansen writes about in his book have come to fruition in Borneo. The main one being a rapid increase in logging. While the island is no longer as pristine as it once was, it is still has one of the most fascinating ecosystems in the world.

You can experience the many wonders of Borneo’s nature by going on a 7-day tour through BootsnAll. The tour takes you to the amazing Sabah Highlands and the one-of-a-kind World Heritage site, Kinabalu National Park. You’ll see monkeys, orangutans, giant sea turtles and birds that you aren’t found anywhere else in this world.

Best of all, you’ll have experienced guides and like minded adventure travelers joining you for the fun. For more travels worthy of a book, check out the Adventure trips.
