Scandinavia on the whole is spectacular and Sweden in particular is a wonderful country. The cities are clean and first rate, the countryside is quaint and pretty, and the people are as nice as they come. Throw in Ikea, Volvo and Abba, and you can see why Sweden is one of my favorite countries in the whole universe.
The one thing that might hold you back from going there is the cost. The place ain’t cheap nor is it usually very cheap to fly there from the United States. You can throw that excuse out the Volvo window now that Malaysia Airlines is dishing out flights from New York to Sweden for as low as $330. Why an airlines from Malaysia has the best deals on flights from the US to Scandinavia is beyond me, but as my great-great-great grandpapy used to say, don’t fight things you don’t need to fight.
