The largest man-made object ever constructed the Great Wall of China stretches for more than 4,000 miles. Most of the segments of the wall are in remote places that are very hard to travel to. The most accessible portions, which also happen to be the most crowded, are near Beijing. The Mutianyu section is especially scenic and it is a mere three hours by train from Beijing. There are a bunch of reasonably priced accommodations in the area, but be forewarned that these tend to fill up quickly on weekends and holidays.
