New York City Air Tickets - Travel Deals

Cheap New York Travel Deals

new-york-city2It surprised many (even myself) that I had never been to New York until 2 years ago. Despite my resume of tackling big international cities (I had lived in Paris and visited London, Barcelona, Milan, Geneva etc.), I had never seen or experiences one of the most famous cities right here in my own country. After a glorious late summer trip to the Big Apple, I was hooked and knew that my future had to include more trips to NYC, which is why I got super excited when I saw there are so many fabulous New York deals happening right now on everything from flights to hotels. New York to Houston - Cheap Tickets from JetBlue

We get really, really excited when carriers announce new flight routes. This is for two reasons.

One: We cross our fingers that our big-city-with-a-small-city-feel hometown, Portland, will finally - FINALLY - get some more direct flights that don’t make us go through, say, Idaho.

Two: The intro fares for these new routes are generally uber-cheap.

While we still have to wait a little longer for number one (sigh), we are pleased to announce that JetBlue is rewarding New Yorkers and Texans with a new route starting on Sept 7, 2006. And, to celebrate, they’re selling tickets for only $99 one-way.

New York City, NY (JFK) to Houston, TX (Hobby). 14-day advance purchase is required. Sale fare must be booked by Jul 18, 2006, 11:59PM MST. Travel must be completed by Oct 31, 2006.

Cheap Flights to Newark

Cheap Flights to Newark

Most travelers think of Newark as a starting or stopping point on the way to somewhere else, giving little thought to the city itself. Few realize that Newark is the largest city in New Jersey and the third oldest major city in the U.S.. The city has a wealth of historic sites and diverse cultural attractions.

Newark’s Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart is the fifth largest cathedral in the United States with towers reputed to be taller than those at Westminster and Notre Dame. The cornerstone was laid in 1899, and construction was completed in 1954, which is a short time for a Gothic cathedral of this size. The Cathedral is located in Branch Brook Park, one of Fredrick Law Olmsted’s parks. The park is over four miles long and has over 2000 cherry trees—a greater variety and number of cherry trees than the Washington, D.C. display. Branch Brook Park’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival is held in April.

The city that gave us Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah, Brian De Palma, Philip Roth, and Paul Simon—among many others—just might have something interesting to look at. The next time you’re here on a long layover, take in some of the sights.
