Vienna - Travel Deals
Cool Capitals, Cool Site
If you had unlimited time to spare in life and nothing better to do, you could spend all your waking hours exploring travel Web sites and you still wouldn’t find all of them. There are a lot of sites on the Web, some good, some bad and some somewhere in between. The challenge isn’t finding them, of course. The challenge is finding the ones that are useful and good.
One site that I recently stumbled upon that has a lot of potential is Cool Capitals. Its current focus is on four capital cities in Europe – Amsterdam, Antwerp, Vienna and Zurich. In addition to the usual features like being able to search for flights to those cities and in-depth city travel guides, the site has interesting and sometimes random features like cocktail recipes, podcasts and videos. Who doesn’t enjoy a good cocktail recipe to go along with your travel planning?
All of this is presented in a user friendly site with visually pleasing graphics. Even if you aren’t planning on visiting the four cities on the site, you might find it entertaining. If nothing else, you can add another travel site to the ever growing number worth checking out.
Cheap Flights to Vienna, Austria
If you ever want to get a sense of old world Europe, you should spend some time in Vienna. The capital of Austria is dripping with history that dates back to Celtic times and takes you through the times of the Roman, Ottoman, and Austro-Hungarian Empires. Sitting in the oldest part of the city – Innere Stadt – drinking coffee and munching on pastries, you can almost breathe the history. You can picture the generations before you walking the same streets and stopping at the same cafes. Your imagination can take you back to another time, another era.
While Vienna is a city that will forever be tied to its past, it also is a modern European capital that is dynamic and full of life. The very art and culture that have made it such an attract place for visitors throughout the ages continue on in earnest today. A trip to the opera, the theater and to the numerous art museums should be part of anyone’s Vienna itinerary.
The one drawback to visiting Vienna is that it is often more expensive to fly to from the United States than Praguge, Budapest and cities in Germany. You might want to check prices on flights to Munich, for example, and then take the train to Vienna. Another option is to check out the deals on flights to Vienna on Austrian Airlines.
