Cheap Coast to Coast Flights on Virgin America
If you ever want to get a sense of the size of the United States, hop in a car and drive from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Somewhere around Iowa you will start to wonder when it will ever end. The U.S. is indeed a big country, although it doesn’t always feel that way in this age of modern air travel. You can hop on a plane and go from one coast to another in less time than it takes to drive across Oregon.
You can also fly coast to coast for less money than you would spend filling the car with gas and filling your stomach with Doritos at the roadside mini markets. For example, the newest kids on the block, Virgin America, will fly you from San Francisco to Washington, DC for $139 one way. They’ll also let you go from New York to LA for $159 one way. Those are cheap prices when you consider the distance of the flights.
There will always be something special about taking a road trip and being able to truly experience a country, but if you want to save time and money air travel is certainly the way to go.
Virgin Airlines Offers Cheap Flights from Chicago/DC to London
I remember the first time I flew on Virgin Airlines. I was in high school and was flying from Orlando to London. The trip was memorable because it was the first time I had flown on a plane that had personal televisions for every seat. The televisions had multiple movies to choose from and there were video games. I think my Super Mario Brothers score from that trip still stands as the high score today.
Virgin played a big part in helping airlines to change the way they serve their customers. More international flights now have personal television screens and other distractions to help you forget that you are cruising at 50,000 feet in a metal box with strangers who are filling your lungs with germs. Distractions on a transatlantic flight are a very, very good thing.
Virgin Atlantic is not my favorite airline these days, but from time to time they do have specials that are hard to resist. They now have direct flights to London from Chicago and Washington, DC and lo and behold the prices are quite reasonable. The offer is only good for travel between April 23 and May 31, 2007 which means you need to start practicing your Super Mario Brothers right now if you have any shot of being my record.
All the Virgins are Headed to London
I can almost taste the crumpets and tea right now. Flights to London are getting cheaper by the moment. Virgin Atlantic has a sweet deal that will fly you across the pond from spots on the East Coast for under $300. That’s cheaper than flying across the country! Think of all the money you’ll have to spend on pints of beer and evenings hanging out with the royal family.
The travel window for this deal is fairly generous, with the standard blackouts around holiday time still in effect.
As a huge soccer fan, I am tempted to pick up a ticket myself and head to the UK for a long weekend of footie fun. What are you waiting for? The werewolves of London are calling your name.
