American Airlines - Travel Deals
A Haiti vacation, anyone?
Raise your hand if you woke up today and thought that it would be a nice time to visit Haiti.
Seeing no hands raised, I am going to assume that there aren’t many of you dreaming of visiting the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. That is a shame because not only are there really cheap flights to Port au Prince, Haiti being offered by American Airlines, but it is also a country that could be a fascinating place to visit for those inclined for an adventure.
You know the reasons why you shouldn’t visit Haiti. It is poor, it is violent, it is unstable and it is lacking a tourist infrastructure. But what about the reasons you should visit Haiti? For one, you will likely be the only one of your friends to ever go there. For another, it is a beautiful country once you leave the capital. For yet another, the Haitian people will welcome you with open arms and the money you spend while staying there will help an economy that sure needs helping.
If those reasons aren’t enough, I suggest you read Tracy Kidder’s inspirational book about Haiti – Mountains Beyond Mountains. It made me want to wake up this morning and travel to Haiti.
Steeply Discounted Flights to the Caribbean and Central America
Even if you have no interest in traveling to the Bahamas you still might perk up when you see this deal. From now until July 31, 2007, you can book a seat on an American Airlines flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Nassau for just $68 round-trip. If Freeport is more your scene, you can fly there for $88. That is insane.
American Airlines also has some terrific deals on flights from Miami to destinations throughout Central America. We’re talking less than $150 to fly from Florida to Costa Rica, Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Haiti. Heck, for those prices you could easily spend a long weekend in each country and not feel an ounce of guilt over the money you spent to fly to them.
These types of prices only come around once a year at best so get booking already! Just make sure you check out the rules and regulations first so that you can get the sweet deal without the hassles.
Are you serious? $49 flights to Costa Rica from Miami?
American Airlines is practically begging you to go to Central America. Whether it is motivated by the kindness of their heart or by profit motive or by competition, they are offering some outstanding deals on flights between Florida and Central America, as well as Florida and the Caribbean. How outstanding is outstanding?
Try $49 for a one-way ticket between Miami and San Juan, Costa Rica. That is pretty darned incredible even when you throw in all the taxes and fees. You can’t even fly from Miami to Atlanta for that price.
The same deal applies for flights to Aruba, Curacao, and Guatemala City among other places. For the best advice on where to go, what to see and where to stay while you are in Central America or the Caribbean, check out the BootsnAll travel guides.
Last Chance for Wonderful Winter Fares to Europe
What are you waiting for? If you haven’t taken advantage of the amazing deals American Airlines are offering on flights to Europe this winter you need to before February 5, 2007 or you could be doo-doo out of luck until the next time there is a huge sale on flights to Europe, next winter.
Instead of kicking yourself about the blown opportunity, kick yourself into action and bump up that summer vacation to February or March. Those are the months when there aren’t as many tourists flocking across the pond and that is the reason why you can get tickets like:
Chicago to Dublin, Ireland - $298
Denver to London - $350
Houston to Frankfurt - $341
New York to Paris - $371
These are sick prices and I am sick knowing that I won’t be able to take advantage of them this year. You don’t have to be sick, though. Get your place on one of these flights today and have yourself a delightful European vacation without the crowds and without breaking the bank.

Spring Break Flights on Sale
Now that the winter holiday season has passed us by and the Christmas tree has been put out for recycling, it is time to turn our attention to the next major holiday: the toga party. It is only a matter of weeks before those hard working students put down their pens and papers and pick up their beer funnels and bikinis. We’re talking about Spring Break, of course. The time to find a warm location, a warm body and to power slam warm beer until you wake up buried in the sand on some undetermined beach in some undetermined country.
Ok, perhaps you are a bit too old for a jaunt to Cancun or Daytona Beach, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t have fun in the sun. American Airlines has a pretty nifty airfare sale going on that will help you reach your Spring Break destination and still leave you a bit of money to upgrade from Pabst to Miller Lite. They have great prices on flights to warm weather fun spots like Orlando, Tampa and Arizona that you know are only going to become more expensive as the last minute planners start doing their planning.

Buy Cheese, Raise your Cholesterol, Pick Up American Airlines Miles
I have some friends who are the ultimate cheese fiends. If you blindfolded them and put them in a basketball gym with cheese at one end and their noses at the other, they still would be able to tell you if the cheese in the room was a high quality chevre or specialty brie.
I love my friends’ love of all things cheese because I was raised in a household where Cheez Whiz was a wonderful break from a steady diet of government-issued cheese and frankly the only choice of cheeses I ever had to make was between orange and white.
If you are a cheese aficionado you might scoff at the notion of buying Swiss Knight cheese. After all, the stuff is designed to last through a nuclear holocaust and it doesn’t require refrigeration. Nevertheless, I don’t think you’ll scoff at the chance of picking up 500 American Airline Miles simply by purchasing the cheese in question.
There isn’t an apparent ending date to this promotion, which is only fitting for a cheese product that can last many lifetimes without going bad. For more details, visit the product site and make sure you take the opportunity to write down a few of those, um, tasty recipes.
Don’t Miss these Cheap Swiss Airline Tickets
Sure you could choose to go skiing in the Rockies this winter or in New England or in your neighbor’s backyard. All of those options are fine and dandy until you compare them to skiing in the Swiss Alps. The Swiss invented mountains. It is a scientific fact. The Alps perfected snow. It is another scientific fact. There are really cheap tickets available right now on winter flights to Switzerland from the United States. That is simply a matter of fact.
New York to Ireland Flights Under $400
Contrary to what some people say, sometimes
I think you should believe in stereotypes. It just saves time. For example in Ireland, the place really is overrun by leprechauns, the tap water tastes like Guinness and kissing the Blarney Stone will increase your sexual potency. I’m speaking from experience here.
For all of these reasons and many more, Ireland is a great place to travel. Sure it pisses rain a lot and you won’t understand a bloody word anyone says, but that is all part of the place’s charms. This Autumn you can fly from New York to Ireland for under $400 round trip. That is highway robbery. You should definitely take advantage of this deal or I’m going to send some leprechauns to your door to steal your Lucky Charms.
Autumn is a Great Time for a European Vacation
The college kids are back in school, the summer backpackers are back doing whatever they do and the natives are back at work. Fall is an excellent season to visit Europe if you are the type of person who doesn’t like to deal with the summer crowds.
American Airlines has some excellent deals on flights to England and mainland Europe this Autumn. For about $400 you can fly from New York to Europe. Try as you might, but you probably won’t ever find a better deal than that.
Flights must be purchased by the end of September and your travel completed by the end of November. Whether you want to go for a week or for a month now is the ideal time to fly to Europe, sit at an outside café and enjoy the fact that you have the whole place to yourself.
50,000 miles to Fiji
We had a great time, but, honestly, it was a little expensive to fly all the way out there. However, we never have 75,000 miles in our account either to get back to Fiji for ‘free’.
However, Air Pacific, in conjunction with the AAdvantage program’s 25th Anniversary, is offering a reduced mileage redemption for your travel round trip from North America to Fiji.
For economy class, until 14Dec06 you just need 50,000 miles, as opposed to the normal 75,000!
