How to Get to Bonnaroo

bonnaroo3As is the case with many summertime music festivals, getting to Bonnaroo involves a road trip for many people – but that’s certainly not the only way to get to Bonnaroo. Because the festival isn’t in the middle of a major city, however, your plans for how to get there need to be worked out ahead of time. Just getting off the plane at the Nashville airport and trying to organize transport when you get there probably isn’t going to work.

The Bonnaroo Festival is on a huge plot of land in Manchester, Tennessee – it’s a city of more than 8,000 people, and it’s fairly close to a few larger cities in Tennessee, so there are a few options when it comes to getting to Bonnaroo. You’ll find information about your main transportation options below.

Closest Airports to Bonnaroo Festival

bonnaroo2The popular Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival draws upwards of 80,000 people to a small town in central Tennessee – so one of the first orders of business if you’re planning a trip to the festival is finding out which airports are close by to figure out what your options are for getting there.

Bonnaroo takes over a 700-acre plot of land in Manchester, Tennessee each June, but flying to Manchester isn’t an option. The city is helpfully located 60 miles from two different Tennessee cities with their own relatively large airports, however, so you not only have an airport within about an hour from the festival – you have two. Plus, there’s a third option a bit further away.

So, for those of you who are further away than driving distance, here are the airports that are closest to the Bonnaroo Festival.

How to Find Cheap Airfare to Bonnaroo

bonnaroo1The summer calendar is full of music festivals, but some stand out more than others. (And, as an aside, why do they all seem to have names that are impossible to spell?) The Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival is just one of the many fantastic multi-day music fests that take place during the summer, but this one usually has such an incredible lineup of performers that it’s a must-see for any serious music fan.

What makes it a little challenging, however, is that at first glance you’ll likely say, “Wait – Manchester, Tennessee? Where’s that?”

Unlike some summertime festivals, Bonnaroo takes place in a Tennessee city that – at any other time of year – has a population of just over 8,000. Since Bonnaroo started rolling into town in 2002, however, the local population is dwarfed for a few days each June by the number of festival-goers. In 2009, for instance, there were around 75,000 people who came in for the festival.

If you’re one of the people who’s planning a trip to the Bonnaroo Festival in 2010, then, you’ll want to be a savvy traveler – because obviously there are thousands of others who might just beat you to the cheapest fares. So here are the tips you’ll need to know to find cheap airfare to Bonnaroo.
