If you have been looking for deals on cheap flights to Europe this summer you know that they are harder to come by than the proverbial needle in a haystack. Why anyone would look for a needle in a haystack is beyond me, but I can relate to those of you scouring the interwebs for affordable flights during the summer months. After all, summer is the best time to travel for so many of us.
If you can delay your trip a little or come up with another trip entirely, you could save some serious money and some serious hassles. For example, Icelandair will fly you to London, Berlin, Paris and other hot Europe destinations for a lot less as long as you travel between August 20 and October 31, 2007. In addition to the money you can save by traveling during the “off-season”, if there is any such thing these travel crazy days, you will also find that there will be less tourists around snagging up all the good rooms at the hostels and hotels.
Indeed, the fact that it is expensive to travel to Europe this summer might work out to be a good thing in the end if you can figure out a way to turn that summer vacation schedule into an early fall one.
Attention bargain travelers. There is another bargain airline that has entered the market and is worth checking out if you are looking for cheap tickets on domestic flights in the United States.
Ah Scotland. The land where golf was invented, kilts are an acceptable fashion statement and where 13% of the population has red hair, the highest percentage of any country in the world. It is also home to the oldest national flag still in existence, a place where it is illegal to be in possession of cow while under the influence of drink, and a land where if someone comes to your house to ask to use your bathroom, you must by law allow them to enter.
It widely known around the world that Düsseldorf, Germany is ranked fifth as the city with the best quality of life. You knew that already, didn’t you? Yea, neither did I until I was proudly told that little fact by a friend who lives in the capital of the German Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
You might think otherwise, but for my money there is no finer place to be during the summer months than in the Pacific Northwest. After months of rain and cool temperatures, the skies clear up and reveal a stunning part of the world. The sun shines almost without interruption from mid-June until September. The temperatures are warm, but rarely hot. Humidity? That doesn’t exist in a city like Seattle in the summer. Beauty? There is no shortage of it. Things to do? A million.
Looking for an alternative to the European summer backpacking scene? Instead of looking across the Atlantic, consider a trip south. There are some killer deals on flights to South America this summer. Of course, that means it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere but the season really doesn’t matter when you are talking about visiting a place like Brazil (The weather forecast in Rio de Janeiro is for a high of 83 today, by the way).
There are a lot of variables involved with this one so bear with me. If you want to fly to London and if you can do so before May 24, 2007 and if the name Air India doesn’t scare you then you are in for a great deal.
If you look at a map it might seem like South America is a long way from the United States. But when you fly to the continent you’ll actually find that it doesn’t take that long. In fact, South America is very accessible.
Quick, what is the sixth most visited city in Europe. If you guess London, Paris, Rome, Madrid or Berlin, you would be wrong. Those are the top five most visited European cities. Number six is Prague.
