Start spreading the news

Empire StateTravelocity has a heckuva sale on now offering a flight to New York City and 3 nights hotel starting at $581. If you’ve checked out hotel prices on their own there you’d know that it’s hard to find anything for under $200 a night regardless, so having a flight thrown in is a pretty sweet deal even if it’s based on double occupancy.

The strike by the Broadway stage hands has wreaked havoc on travel plans of some theater buffs, but there is plenty more to do in New York City ... [Read this entry]

my_way.JPGIt is overwhelming to think of the myriad vacation options that exist in this world. If you want to go sit on the beach somewhere, there is a beach with your name on it. If you want to take the kids to an amusement park, there is a roller coaster waiting for your fanny to sit in it. By Bob | Permalink

old_ski_guy.jpgImagine what it must have been like to have been the first person to slap some wood on his feet and to propel himself down a side of a mountain. The thrill must have been something. According to the experts at Wikipedia, there’s evidence that skiing existed as far back as 5,000 years ago. That means for 5,000 years people have been shredding powder, running into trees and tearing up knees all in the name of the ski adrenaline rush.

The sport has progressed a lot since those ancient times. ... [Read this entry]

Save Money on Canadian Vacations

By Bob | Permalink

loonie.jpgIt doesn’t seem long ago that the Canadian dollar couldn’t buy you the cheapest spot in Monopoly. My how times have changed. The Canadian dollar has leveled against the US dollar and is only getting stronger. What that means for you, dear traveler, is that your vacations to Canada are becoming more and more expensive by the day. That pint of Molson is going to cost more. That gallon of maple syrup is going to eat away at your savings account. The medicines you can’t afford in ... [Read this entry]

Thanksgiving and Christmas in August

By Bob | Permalink

grinch.jpgRemember last year when you waited until the last possible second to purchase your tickets for your Thanksgiving and Christmas travel? As your bank account wept, you made a promise to not wait as long next year. You swore that you would get your tickets early so that you wouldn’t have to mortgage the house just to afford a trip during the holidays. You even put a reminder on your Outlook calendar so that you would buy your winter tickets during the summer months.

It is time to put your words ... [Read this entry]

Autumn in Alaska? It is not as crazy as it sounds

By Bob | Permalink

alaska-autumn.jpgThe vast majority of people who visit Alaska do so during a narrow time window in the summer. That is when the state is alive and when you don’t need to strap on the snowshoes to walk around. The summer is without question a beautiful time to visit the Last Frontier, but those in the know also say that early Autumn is delightful.

The crowds are gone, the animals are still out, the viewing of the Northern lights is the best it is all year and the prices are cut rate. ... [Read this entry]

Save $50 on hotel stays of three nights or more

By Bob | Permalink

50.jpgIf I were to hand you $50, what would you do with it? You could head down to the local pub and buy 10 really expensive microbrews or 20 cheap beers. You could head to the gas station and pump a tank of gas, assuming you don’t drive one of those tanks I see around town. You could also buy a 30-year treasury bond and hope that you live long enough for it to come to maturity.

The options are endless when you are handed free money and that is essentially ... [Read this entry]
