Las Vegas Deals for the Non-Gambler

Most of the Las Vegas travel guides out there assume that you’re visiting Vegas to gamble. They offer great tips on how to get your trip comp’d by a casino – or at least how to get dirt-cheap offers on trips from casino hotels – but almost all of the sure-fire ways to score great deals in Vegas involve being a gambler. If a casino hotel knows you’re going to be dropping lots of money in the casino, then they still come out ahead if they comp your room.

What if you’re not a gambler, though? What if you like the variety of activities in Vegas, but you’re never going to be enough of a gambler for a casino to offer you freebies? Thankfully, there are still Las Vegas deals that you can take advantage of.

Frankly, most casino hotels assume that everyone who visits Las Vegas will do at least a little bit of gambling, so even if you’re not enough of a high-roller to merit a free suite in a fancy hotel the fact that so many other people are leaving huge piles of money in the casinos means that it’s pretty easy to find cheap flights to Vegas. It’s like all the people who visit the city and spend lots of money are subsidizing everyone’s vacations, in a way, and if you really don’t spend a dime on gambling then you’re getting the good end of that deal.

The same goes for the hotels in Las Vegas – yes, there are very high-end and famous hotels where you’ll be hard-pressed to find a bargain price on a room, but those are by no means the only places to stay in the city. There are plenty of options for hotels that offer incredibly low rates whether you’re planning to gamble or not, and although they may not be as glitzy as the famous hotels they’re perfectly clean and comfortable and still within a block or two of The Strip.

If you’re paying close attention, you can also find excellent deals on trips to Las Vegas that even include airfare along with a stay at the big-name hotels and resort casinos on The Strip. If a Vegas trip is in your future, be sure to sign up for email alerts from your favorite booking sites so you know when those package trips come along. It’s also a good idea to sign up for newsletters for Vegas-specific travel sites that publish last-minute specials, and airlines that use the Vegas airport as a hub. You can also get great tips for things like how to buy Las Vegas show tickets at a discount, which famous buffets in Vegas are worth the money, and suggestions for what there is to do in Las Vegas besides gambling.
