french_bullfighting.jpgA modern city, steeped in history, situated in a beautiful setting and replete with an awesome nightlife, Barcelona, Spain is a must-see for travelers of all ages and all interests. Modern Barcelona is Spain’s second largest city and arguably its best. The capital of Catalonia, Barcelona’s founding dates back two thousand years. Situated on the northeast coast of the Iberian Peninsula, facing the Mediterranean sea, Barcelona is a cosmopolitan city that has benefited from contact with global traders throughout the centuries.

Today, Barcelona is both a Catalonian city and a global player. More than 13% of its population comes from other countries, a number that is growing every year. Barcelona is also one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, due to its good climate and its cultural offerings. Barcelona houses over 45 renowned museums and is famous for its unique contemporary architecture and the famous works of architect Antoni Gaudí. The city has 4.5 km of beaches, from the historical Barcelona to the newest, sandless bathing zone in the Forum.

Despite its popularity, it is often difficult to find really good deals on flights to Barcelona. Air France is bucking the trend with an excellent deal from Philadelphia to Barcelona for less than $400. This is at least a couple hundred dollars cheaper than what you’ll find a few months from now so it would behoove you to take advantage of this offer while it lasts.
