Lacking the panache of Europe or the mystery of Asia, Central America is often an overlooked destination for many North Americans. It should not be. The countries of Central America offer excellent natural beauty, warm hospitality and enough adventure to satisfy those who are looking for a vacation that is anything but ordinary.
One of the best and cheapest ways to get to Central America and South America, short of walking or riding a bicycle, is on TACA airlines. It might not be as household a name as some of the U.S. carriers that fly to Central America, but if you are serious about saving money on your ticket you should check out its Web site.
Some sample findings that I have come across in my searches on TACA.com include:
- Washington to Guatemala City for $386
- Miami to Quito for $407
- Dallas to Belize for $388
- Los Angeles to Bogota for $344
Better deals you won’t find anywhere else. As an added bonus the airline has a partnership with United Airlines so when you fly on TACA you can also pick up miles on United.
