This excellent fare sale ends soon, so don’t dawdle

This is a special fare sale that isn’t being widely publicized, but I got wind of it so I wanted to pass it on to you guys pronto because it ends soon: Worldwide fare sale! Travel the world from $89+ roundtrip! - Expires 3/17/08

I’ll be the first to admit the text is a bit misleading because it’s not like you can fly from New York to Hong Kong for $89 roundtrip or anything, but once you get past that and really look at the prices you’ll see many of these are really cheap, especially for this time of the year.

This sale is only on United Airlines and all the cities that are offered at $89 roundtrip are only an hour or two apart by air within the United States. But still, the fares are $89 roundtrip so don’t let your disappointment that they aren’t longhaul flights get in your way of noticing a good deal when you see one.

I really wonder whether them making it sound better than it really is helps or hurts in the long run? If they wrote “from $89+ roundtrip but most are way higher than that” they probably wouldn’t get as many interested people clicking. They must know it works through market research, just like the people who send me all those V1agra e-mails.
